A vacant plot of land on Australia's Gold Coast has sold for AU$9.5 million (£3.8m) - a Queensland record. 
The price was a recognition of soaring land values at waterfront and beachfront sites on the Gold Coast, said Gordon Douglas of estate agents PRD Nationwide which sold the property.

Five years ago, the average price for a beachfront home on Hedges Avenue was a little more than $1million.
