Queen upholds feudal system |

The Queen has clung on to a remnant of the medieval system of feudalism by retaining her ancient rights over properties on Royal Deeside.
Cottage-owners on the Balmoral estate have been served by her solicitors with a warning that if they want to sell their properties they will have to offer them to her first - effectively undermining Holyrood's intention of ending feudalism.
