Namibian land reforms to go ahead |

 Commentators say that Hifikepunye Pohamba, who is likely to become Nambia's president after the general election today and tomorrow, will continue the land reform effort initiated by retiring president Sam Nujoma.
Earlier this year Nujoma announced a scheme to expropriate farms owned by major white landowners. Whites make up only five per cent of the 1.8 million population. But they own 92 per cent of Namibia's 80 million acres of agricultural land.
Nambian opposition likens Nujoma's plans to those of his friend, Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe. In 2003 Zimbabwe was haunted by a streak of violent land grabs from white farmers.
