Shares of British construction companies soared following the annoucement that London will host the 2012 Olympics, and mortgage lenders predicted house prices in the capital would rocket.
In related news, RICS have announced that part of the biggest regeneration project in Europe (the Thames Gateway) is being brought foward by a generation. It signals the start of a planning and development marathon that could potentially create a magnificent urban environment in East London.

14,000 new homes, thousands of jobs, leisure facilities, shops and transport links are all planned for the development of the Lea Valley.
